Sweet Poison represents a box of Valentine’s chocolates. This profile riffs on Jennifer’s Trick or Treat Halloween ride but, in this case, after selecting a song it will be up to each student to design an activity for the class. In doing so they will have to take into account their knowledge, personal preferences, and the reactions of the other students. You AND your students will be taking some risks with this profile…but isn’t that what love means as well?
To love is to risk not being loved in return. To try is to risk failure,
but risk must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.
The name “Sweet Poison” represents a box of Valentine’s chocolates. For this profile you prepare a “box of chocolates” by writing the names of the songs and whether it’s a flat, representing the “sweet,” or a climb, representing the “poison.” This profile riffs on Jennifer’s Trick or Treat Halloween ride but, in this case, after selecting a song it will be up to each student to design an activity for the class. In doing so they will have to take into account their knowledge, personal preferences, and the reactions of the other students. The class can go any number of ways depending on the songs they pick and what they decide to do to them, but Christine provides you with ways to guide your students into picking a responsible workout for each song.

Thank you so much for this post! I used the idea yesterday for my pre-Valentine’s ride, and my students loved it!! I used different songs with the idea that every relationship status was covered, so no one needed to feel left out 😉 This was my list:
Warm up songs (to explain the idea of the class and to demonstrate how to express the feeling of the song with the ride):
Addicted to you – Avicii
What is love – Haddaway
Then the students picked their candies to spice up:
Crazy in Love – Beyonce (no explanations necessary 😉
Fire on the Tears of the Universe – King of Bass (lies gradually interfering and destroying love)
Heartbreaker – Pat Benatar (the sweet goodness you know will break your heart, but is so irresistible. Try and run away!)
I Can’t Stop Drinking About You (Quentin Remix) – Bebe Rexha (the destructive kind of break up that you can only drown by a really strong shot!)
Kickstart My Heart – Motley Crue (the adrenaline high of just looking for good time)
S&M – Rihanna (The pain that feels so GOOD!)
Surrender (Dzeko & Torres Remix) – Cash Cash (the fear and desire of falling in love again after heart break)
Timebomb – Pink (the tumultuous kind of love and self-inflicted hurt)
Worth It – Fifth Harmony (the dating game and all its flirting stages)
Cooldown:
Mi verdad – Maná with Shakira (true love that becomes a refuge from the lies of the world)
I’m so glad your class enjoyed the concept. Your choice of songs is great. I’ll definitely swap those in next time I use the profile,
