There comes a time during a workout when we inevitably sneak a peak at the person beside us and engage in one of the strongest motivators of all—competition.
For your indoor cycling classes, your participants may push themselves to go the entire 30 seconds of a hill sprint because the person beside them is. Or, even though you may request an increase in resistance, your participants may first look around the room to see if anyone else turns up the gear on the bike.
For myself, and many health enthusiasts, competition enhances all aspects of training—tactical and skill execution as well as motivation, focus, and overall effort.
