Class Profile: Decadence

Some profiles become traditions, and Decadence is one of them.

This ride is Bill Pierce’s end-of-year signature—part reflection, part celebration. It mixes some of the best songs from the year just ending (both by popular demand and by Bill’s impeccable taste) with standout tracks that reach back through the decades. The warm-up and cool-down feature a few of his favorite songs from 2025, while the recoveries between working blocks highlight some of the most popular tunes from the past 12 months. The name Decadence is a playful blend of decade and cadence.

Decadence is built around four blocks of 9–10 minutes each, riding from sweet spot to threshold intensity. Each block features music from a single decade—starting in the 1970s and moving through the 2000s—with cadence aligned to the era:

  • 1970s: low 70s rpm
  • 1980s: low 80s rpm
  • 1990s: low 90s rpm
  • 2000s: finishing at 100 rpm

The result is a ride that feels both familiar and fresh—structured, challenging, and deeply satisfying. It’s the kind of profile that rewards focused riders, makes the time fly, and reminds you why great music paired with smart intensity never goes out of style. We’d love to hear how your riders respond when you teach this profile—and whether you made any song swaps or personal tweaks to make it your own.
