Parts 4, 5, and 6 of Prepping for a Reset provided samples of aerobic conditioning, muscle conditioning, and leg speed class profiles. There are numerous variations, but these three profiles comprise the key foundational elements of cycling fitness.
As people are returning to the gym after the holiday months, there is an increased awareness of results; probably more so than any other time of the year. What a perfect opportunity to demonstrate the value of indoor cycling and your class. After three weeks of specific objectives, allow them to review what was learned. Build a class profile that incorporates a segment of each of the previous three weeks. Can you say “freebie”? We don’t even need to search for more music. Use the same songs over again. This is not laziness. Using the same songs is a effective way for your riders to compare apples to apples to their previous effort, stimulus and all.
Are there any articles regarding periodization? This would be a great class for the indoor cycling summit this year….. 🙂
Periodizing my weeks, months into a year of programming has exponentially save me time with my 6 classes each week. I explain to my riders that our first 3-4 weeks are building blocks and then a final week where they will be applying those skills in a road ride simulation, video ride or race ride. I haven’t done the Review Ride yet but something new i look forward to incorporating. thank you
