Theme Ride Thursday: Veterans Day Playlist Options

Veterans Day is celebrated here in the States (and in many places in the world) on November 11. Instead of creating a separate Veterans Day playlist, we realized there would be a lot of duplication with the ICA 4th of July and Memorial Day bucket playlists. Feel free to give those playlists a listen so you can utilize the songs that speak to you. We’re sure you’ll find ample tracks that reflect the spirit of America, as well those that pay tribute to the brave servicemembers who have served their country.

As you honor these holidays and create your playlist, note the difference between Veterans Day and Memorial Day. The following is from Memorialdayfoundation.org

Memorial Day and Veterans Day honor the sacrifices of innumerable individuals who sacrificed themselves to preserve the freedoms all Americans enjoy, with Memorial Day remembering those who gave their lives, and Veterans Day honoring all who served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Memorial Day has its roots in the Civil War to honor those who died. Veterans Day was initially called Armistice Day and honored all who served in World War I. In 1954, the name of the holiday was officially changed to Veteran’s Day and its purpose was broadened to include service in all of the armed forces, regardless of whether they died in service.
