Is there anything Beyoncé can’t do?
That’s a rhetorical question because we know the answer is a resounding no!
During the Super Bowl, Beyoncé almost broke the internet when she announced her country album, Renaissance: Act II, scheduled for release on March 29. She then gifted her fans with the first two singles from the project: “16 Carriages” and “Texas Hold ’Em.”
“Texas Hold ‘Em” is so catchy—I love it! With almost 5 million views on YouTube and 35 million streams on Spotify in the first week, I’m not alone!
Beyoncé’s announcement spurred some controversy, too. One country radio station in Oklahoma initially refused to play it but quickly changed course. Any reticence to welcome the song seems to be fizzling out; the power of this superstar should pave the way for more female Black country musicians.
“Texas Hold ’Em” works great as a flat road with a cadence in the 80s rpm, accelerating or adding resistance with the energy of the song on the chorus at 0:15–0:40 (25s), 1:15–1:50 (35s), and 2:43–3:18 (35s).
You can also ride on the beat at 55 rpm (as long as you don’t load on too much resistance). Accelerate the legs to 60–65 rpm on the chorus as if surging on switchbacks on a climb.
What do you think? Do you like this new country track from The Bey?
