Magic Coaching Minute: Too Much Resistance

Regardless of the reason, using too much resistance on an indoor cycling bike is not good for the muscles, joints, or an effective workout.


  1. Excellent information Tom! I tell my class to greet resistance as their friend because beginners tend to be afraid of applying too much. Of course the regulars will go overboard. This will give them a way to gauge just how much is too much.


  2. I always look for ways to tell my riders the basics in a new and fresh way. I’ve been teaching for many many years now and really dislike it when I sound like I’m repeating myself. I’m off to teach in a few minutes and will use this! Thanks, Tom!
