I know it’s not Friday Favorites or Wednesday Classics day, but here’s some free music anyway! In May of 2011 I wrote about a great free legal downloading source for electronic music (trance, psy-tran, downtempo, etc.). I want to remind members about this site, but because there is so much music it can be a little overwhelming to search through it, so here’s a tip about a group I just discovered. Many of these songs are excellent for fast flat cadence work, in the 90–100 bpm/rpm range. Perfect for endurance and mind-body classes!
While searching for a Halloween song I saw suggested on Twitter, I hit pay dirt. I unearthed a slew of eerily awesome songs that work perfectly for cycling classes. Yes, they actually have a great beat, not just shrieks and screams. You can now say to your students (as I did in my Halloween newsletter), “I promise not to play Monster Mash and Thriller this year!”
Here is this year’s 240 best Halloween songs and albums. If you’re a new member this is an invaluable resource. If you have last year’s list it’s been updated with 20 additional songs for your Halloween pleasure. Also, an ICA member shares her plans for her Halloween class and in a few days, I’ll post my own Halloween profile.
